Blindsight Adaptation

An adaptation of Peter Watts’ Creative-Commons sci-fi novel Blindsight. I adapted it for television instead of film, because a miniseries can offer more exploration of a setting than single dramatic arcs, and I did a lot of research into how good adapters think about and treat the original works. My final adaptation of the first fourth of the novel (the cliffhanger to which is one of my favorites in all fiction) keeps all of the main characters and central conflicts, and as a bonus it can be filmed as a 45-minute pilot, two 22-minute episodes or three 15-minute webisodes.

You can read the full script of the first episode here, or the full-text of the novel here. If you’d like to know more about how I made this script, you can read my production blog here.
